THE JEFFERSONIAN

Located on the first floor of the southeast side of the historic building, the apartment has been designed with tranquility and comfort in mind. Contemporary inspired styling in the heart of the historic district with private entrance. Elegantly appointed 700 square-foot apartment featuring two bedrooms with queen size beds and an open concept living room/kitchen with high ceilings, hardwood floors, and charming views to Saint Michaels Church and the gardens. The space is complemented by state-of-the-art technologies, including Wi-Fi access, a Flat Screen TV, and advanced climate controls.

The original owner of the house, David Augustus Leonard, was editor of Bristol’s first newspaper, The Mount Hope Eagle, which was warmly and actively devoted to President Thomas Jefferson and his party. On a number of occasions, David Augustus Leonard and President Jefferson exchanged letters on topics such as politics and the expansion of the United States toward the west.
